School Health Center

...Healthy children learn better

Historical Background: The School Health Center was started in January 1992 by San Francisco Unified School District’s Schools Health Programs Department to provide health assessment and services to children with unmet health needs.

What is the goal of the School Health Center?
The goal is to provide health assessments and services to uninsured children with unmet health needs.

What is the School Health Center? The purpose of the Center is to assess preschool, elementary and middle school children for health problems that may interfere with their learning. As part of the school district, the Health Center personnel can work closely with the children, parents/ guardians, classroom teachers, resource specialists, and school administrators to identify and manage problems that impair school attendance and achievement.
